Fix Emails Not Deleting From Exchange Inbox on macOS Catalina

Emails Not Deleting From Exchange Inbox
Hello, I am having a strange issue with an Exchange account I run through the Mail app on my iMac. I have two emails in my inbox that I have tried to delete several times, but they will not disappear from my inbox. Each time I try to either delete the email or move it to a folder, an error message pops up saying, “The message -X- could not be moved to the mailbox -X-. The specified object was not found in the store., The process failed to get the correct properties.” The emails have now appeared in the inbox for 16 days. Is there any way to get rid of them permanently? They do not appear in my mail app on my iPhone. I am running Catalina version 10.15.1. Thanks in advance!

Like the above users, there are multiple users who are unable to delete emails from the exchange inbox on Catalina. Please follow the two steps provided below to fix the issue.

Disable and Re-enable the Exchange Account
Some Mac users were able to delete the problematic email after disabling and enabling the exchange account.
- Go to the Mail app on your Mac, Select Mail > and then Accounts.
- Choose the account, then uncheck or deselect the Mail tickbox.
Doing this will not show the account’s messages in your Mail.
To enable the account again with Mail, check or select the Mail tickbox. This will show the account’s messages again (It is not required to download those messages from the server again).
Now try deleting the problematic email. You might receive the same error again but after clicking on OK, it should go away.
Rebuild the Index For the Mailbox
The rebuilding of the mailbox is required to update the list of emails it contains. Rebuilding can also be done in case messages are missing/misinterpreted, or if you are unable to find all relevant mails using the Entire Message search option.
- Go to the Mail app on your Mac, choose a mailbox located in the sidebar.
- Select Mailbox > then Rebuild.
When rebuilding the mailboxes for IMAP or Exchange accounts, messages and attachments stored on your Mac are ignored, they download again from the mail server to your computer. Your mailbox will look empty till the time download is complete.
Try deleting the problematic email once rebuilding is done.
